abstract

abstract beet soilborne virus (bsbv) is a member species of the genus pomovirus with rigid rod particles and 3 positive single stranded rnas. the virus is transmitted by polymyxa betae and restricted to chenopodiaceae. a survey was conducted in 2005 for identification of bsbv in northern khorasan province. samples showing yellowing, elongated and upright petioles with narrow leaf lamina and hairy roots were collected from fields of shirvan, bojnord and esfarayen. detection of bsbv was based on tas-elisa test. our survey showed that different fields in shirvan and bojnord were infected with bsbv. also for detection of mixed infection with bnyvv, samples were tested by das-elisa as well. our investigation showed that some fields in shirvan and bojnord had mixed infection with both viruses. this is the first report of infection with bsbv in shirvan and bojnord located in northern khorasan province.

Interactions Between Beet necrotic yellow vein virus and Beet soilborne mosaic virus in Sugar Beet

Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) and Beet soilborne mosaic virus (BSBMV) are members of the genus Benyvirus (9). Both viruses infect members of the family Chenopodiaceae, most notably sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.), and are transmitted by the plasmodiophorid, Polymyxa betae (1,2). BNYVV infection causes rhizomania disease in sugar beet (4,21); however, BSBMV infection does not (28). BSBMV...

detection of beet soilborne virus in razavi khorasan province by serological and rt-pcr methods

abstract beet soilborne virus (bsbv) is a member of the genus pomovirus, with rod shaped particles and three plus single - stranded of rna. bsbv is morphologically similar to beet necrotic yellow vein virus (bnyvv) and both are transmitted by the soilborne fungus, polymyxa betae keskin that survives in soil for many years. host range of bsbv is limited to the family of chenopodiaceae. in order ...

investigation on infection and distribution of beet yellows virus in razavi khorasan province

abstract beet yellows virus (byv), the type member of the genus closterovirus and one of the most economically important yellowing viruses, causes serious losses in sugarbeet. in order to study infection and distribution of beet yellows virus during summer 2007, about 530 samples were collected from beet’s fields in razavi khorasan province (fariman, torbate jam, ghoochan, chenaran, torbate hey...

Multiplex reverse transcription-PCR for simultaneous detection of beet necrotic yellow vein virus, Beet soilborne virus, and Beet virus Q and their vector Polymyxa betae KESKIN on sugar beet.

Three soilborne viruses transmitted by Polymyxa betae KESKIN in sugar beet have been described: Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV), the agent of rhizomania, Beet soilborne virus (BSBV), and Beet virus Q (BVQ). A multiplex reverse transcription-PCR technique was developed to simultaneously detect BNYVV, BSBV, and BVQ, together with their vector, P. betae. The detection threshold of the test...
